Dr. T. Rama Rao, Professor and Principal at CMR College of Pharmacy, has obtained his B. Pharm (1990) and M. Pharm (1993) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He qualified at GATE-91 and also awarded with CSIR Senior Research Fellowship by CSIR, New Delhi. He obtained Ph. D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Andhra University in 2001.
He has nearly 30 years of professional experience which include 20 years of teaching experience(UG & PG), 6 years of Industrial experience and 4 years of research experience. He has 18 years of administrative experience as Principal. He served in the pharmaceutical industry as a production executive and as a research scientist in major pharmaceutical companies – Phaarmasia Limited, Hyderabad, GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals Limited(GSK), Bangalore and Natco Pharma Limited, Hyderabad.
At GSK, he conceptualized, evolved formulation strategies, developed and transferred the technology to production shop floor of products belonging to Immediate release and delayed release tablets, Injections, Ointments, Creams, Oral liquid suspension and capsules. At Natco Pharma, he conceptualized and established a pharmaceutical research group focusing on preformulation and formulation development of New Chemical Entities(NCES). The activities of his group included characterization of physico-chemical and physico-technical properties of the NCE, early formulation development and process development. At Phaarmasia, he used to manufacture the loan license products of Johnson and Jhonson limited, Abbott India Limited, Procter and Gamble (P &G) limited etc.
He has published one book, 327 research papers in National and International journals, 15 Book chapters and 5 patents to his credit. He is a recognized research supervisor in JNTUH, JNTUA and Acharya Nagarjuna University. Under his guidance 11 scholars were awarded with Ph. D in JNTUH, JNTUA and Acharya Nagarjuna University. He also guided 70 M. Pharm and 16 Pharm. D students.
He is a life member of professional bodies – Indian Pharmacy Graduate association (IPGA), Association of community Pharmacists of India (ACPI), Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI).
